Welcome to Religious Formation
Parents and guardians, are an integral part of religious formation. In fact, the role of
primary educator is so vital to the mission of Jesus Christ, that the Church calls the
family the Domestic Church.
Children see the example a faith in action by following the model of lived faith in the
family. Full and active participation in parish life through regular attendance at Sunday
Mass, sacramental life, enrichment events and service to the community, demonstrates
a life centered of the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Our catechists (teachers) are entrusted with the mission of sharing the message with all
parish children through formal instruction in classes, workshops and other enrichment
events. The Church of St. Mary faces the continuing challenge of providing enough
catechists to staff our formation classes. Each baptized Catholic is called to participation
in formal instruction of the teaching of Jesus Christ. Volunteering to act as a catechist,
substitute, team teacher or hall monitor, ensures that all parish children will have the
opportunity to grow in their faith through knowledge and understanding of the gift of
salvation through Jesus Christ.
Classes for all parish children are scheduled as follows:
Grades 1 through 6 ~ Wednesday Afternoon 3:45PM-5:00PM
Grades 1 through 8 ~ Sunday Morning 9:00AM-10:15AM Grades 1-through 8 ~ Summer Session 8:30AM-Noon
Please note that the Summer Session is a ten-day session which includes two (2) required Saturday sessions one in the Fall/Winter and one in the Spring.
Additional sacramental preparation requires participation at events separate from classroom instruction for those children preparing for 1st Reconciliation
and 1st Eucharist in Grade 2, as well as older children in Grades 7 and 8 who are preparing for Confirmation.
Please click on the Sacrament Icons in the right-hand column for specific information about preparation.
